Car Loans - Reliance and reliability

Just a suggestion for anyone who is going into car loans, from the several options that you can choose from, I would give Reliance Car loans the thumbs down. A very good friend of mine has had a harrowing experience recently and the agents that were dealing with her at one of the premium car showrooms in Chennai were not reachable on phone for any clarifications. Although I can't go in detail about the whole thing, I hope this will serve as a note of caution for whoever is looking at or considering car loans.

We happened to try out the Reliance phone subscriptions ourselves and that was a personal horrid experience when they sent us bills in 6 digits and also found bills sent to us for numbers that did not belong to us but were registered in our names. By the time we clarified everything and got out of the royal mess, my mom was almost having panic attacks because she would rather dissolve into thin air than have any questions on our ethics.

That said use your discretion if you are considering Reliance for your car loans. I have no idea about the other services they offer.

sheesh - 6 digits *faint*
we had similar experience (extra billing to nos which we had no clue of) with BSNL for the phone and shifted to Tata Indicom when in India. Reliance needs a name change i guess :)

I think these discrepancies are mainly due to the individuals (the agents) than because of the companies that offer the services. I feel these culprits are omnipresent for I had a bad experience with ICICI too.

Vijay, Agreed 100%, Raliance wanting to be a Corporate, however the policy and process should be very clear and transperent to the customers, which is damn poor with Reliance. A small example that Reliance is closing the petrol pumps. (they cant even predict market)

Hello Chinmayi, even in my house they had talks on getting car loan.. thanks for the info provided.. but sad to know that such things are happening with many.. even with certain broadband networks,i've experienced similar kinda problems and mainly w.r.t attending calls from the customers i should say that they give the least care on that and even if they do attend, the way they respond is like,we feel , better that they needn't have picked up the call itself for giving such a poor response..atleast the charge of a single call could have got saved..!! you've also blogged earlier stating that with Hyundai car service you weren't happy with the way they'd spoken..but it's really shocking to know that Reliance is one among those that cannot be approached with trust.. hmm..anyway,thanks for letting us know of this..that speaks very sweet of you akka..

Real horrible experiences like this will definitely chase their customers away from them, may be they should learn from such mistakes if they want to do a real good corporate business on the long run. I guess nowadays even nationalised bank are doing better service though sometime its inevitable to join the long queue

These agents are utilizing the loopholes in the corporate contracts. Please remember to read the fine print before you get into one.

I had bitter experience with Reliance in Mobile and Broadband. They are no one cheat in India

Another One bites the Dust....

My cousin just went through the same experience...

She's now quit Reliance mobile, Reliance internet and has even stopped buying at Reliance Fresh...

Somehow Reliance thinks that lousy customer service is a strong USP :-)

Warmth & regards to your mom...

Chinmayee,

I have watched aahaa angels program in kumudam website.
I have seen you singing mayya mayya.

You happened to have missed some lines in between but you made it up.

My humble suggestion is, while the song has a Tamil version and the program being of a tamil fm radio and the audience being tamilians, why could u not sing the whole song in tamil?? You started in Tamil but in between switched to Hindi...
Really could not appreciate it.

Regards,
Kumar.

Hi kumar..
My audience need not be just tamilians. And the tamil audience have heard the tamil song several times on radio. So why not familiarize them with the Hindi version as well.. its after all our national language isn't it?
There is another song called thesulaavudhe thenmalaraale that I sang in Sun TV, saptaswarangal, years ago, and won the round, due to which Srinivas sir, my judge then, took me to Rahman sir. That song was originally made in Hindi. And to this day, when I perform that song, I sing two stanzas in hindi and two in Tamil. I keep switching.
Malayalam channels allow the competitors to sing in Tamil, Hindi and any other language. Their audiences are usually Malayalis. That doesn't mean Keralites have forgotten their mother tongue. The same with Telugu or Kannada. I have seen several people choose tough Tamil songs on national Kannada or Telugu Channels.
Its about keeping our hearts open Kumar. My Humble opinion.

Fine, opinion differs.
Ofcourse I am not a language fanatic or anything, however I felt, you did it just for style.
Neways, you are doing a wonderful job otherwise.

Kumar.

As far as loans go, when someone calls, its always advisable to ask if they are "Calling from the bank, or calling on behalf of the bank". Politely decline and hang up if its the case of the latter.

As for the situation with the telephone bill, reliance is known for being a target of people playing their tactics. Unfortunate though.
